My career in photography began in earnest when I moved to New York City and photographed musician friends in the jazz scene. I had completed a Bachelor of Arts in Film & Video Studies at the University of Michigan, where I learned to tell compelling stories through images, and frame portraits as if I were filming a movie star. Jazz friends appreciated my style; I learned timing, anticipation, and improvisational skills watching them perform.
I also got my start in analog photography, printing in the darkroom, which had a lasting impact on my work. I’ve blended traditional and digital techniques and honed a modern style that blends timeless with contemporary, using the breadth of my photographic knowledge to capture the essence of a moment.
When I’m not photographing, I love writing, gardening, creating recipes from vegetables I’ve grown, and hanging out at independent coffee shops in Cleveland. I adore watching baseball (Go Guardians!), I try to read 50 books a year, and I've recently made a personal study of interior design.
I believe children are brilliant teachers of how to be in the world. Their natural positivity inspires me endlessly. Working as a babysitter from the age of 15, I learned how to connect with kids and create an engaging atmosphere. I now love combining my passion for photography with the joy of working with children, bringing their stories to life through my lens.
